Paula Arlene Camp

September 14, 1953 — May 24, 2024

Paula Arlene Camp, age 70, of Halifax, VA, passed away on Friday, May 24th, 2024. She was born on Monday, September 14th, 1953 to the late Vearl Franklin Camp and Joy Nell Alderman Camp.

Paula was a graduate of Bradford Area High School in Bradford, PA. She went on from there to serve with honor in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War Era until she retired after 20 years as a Master Sergeant, E7. After military service, she worked in a Manpower office as a civilian for the US Air Force for awhile then found employment in the North Carolina State Education office where she worked until she successfully retired for a second time.  She was lovingly called a ‘professional student’ as she had earned several Associate Degrees before earning a Bachelor of Science Degree with honors from Wake Technical College in Industrial Technology. Paula was associated with Dan River Baptist Church in Halifax, VA.

She is survived by her sister, Mona Marie Moody (Jim) of Clarksville, VA; nieces Becky Camp & great-niece Karina Camp, also of Clarksville, VA; and Jennifer Camp of Coudersport, PA; nephews Shane Camp (Shantille) of Maryland,NY; and Sean Camp (Tammy) of Port Allegany, PA; as well as many other relatives and friends. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Russell Dean Camp, a nephew, John Bloomer, Jr. and a niece Faith Lee Bloomer, and her chihuahuas, her beloved Precious Candy and Micky.

Paula loved the outdoors; she gardened, loved fishing, camping, and walking; was a member of a black powder club where her name translated to “I shall either find a way or make one”.  Paula was an avid studier of the Bible, sometimes you would find yourself in a debate with her over the great unknown questions in the Bible, but she sincerely wanted everyone she met to meet and know God.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 9, 2024 at Clarksville Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Greg Randall officiating. Inurnment with Military Honors will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lake Country SPCA in memory of Paula Arlene Camp. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
