Clarksville, VA - Peggy Crowder Watkins, widow of Waverly Bruce Watkins, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at the age of 87.She was born in Mecklenburg County on June 26, 1929 to the late Emily Nunn and Atlee Bryan Crowder.Peggy was a 1946 graduate of Clarksville High School, obtained a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and a master’s degree from Strayer University.Early in her adult life, she worked at Burlington Industries.She lived in Rocky Mt. and Greensboro, NC, but resided for most of her married life in Knoxville, TN.Peggy was foremost a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved to golf, play bridge and travel the world. Cherishing the memories of Peggy Crowder Watkins, are daughter and son-in-law, Laura Love and Danny Pittard of Buffalo Junction and son, Dr. William Bryan Watkins of Little Rock, Arkansas.Also surviving are sister, Betty C. Gould of Clarksville, grandchildren, Garland Daniel Pittard, Jr., Emily Caroline Watkins, Watkins Granderson Pittard, Kimberly Pittard Foley (Ian), and Sophie Love Watkins and great grandson, Thomas Edmund Foley. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA with the Reverend Dr. Greg Randall officiating.Burial will follow at Gravel Hill Cemetery.The family will receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Laura Pittard.
