Penny Lee Anderson Phillips

Penny Lee Anderson Phillips of South Boston passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at the age of 71.  She was born on August 3, 1952 in Halifax County to the late Archer Acken Anderson Sr and the late Lucille Snead Anderson.  She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Steve Phillips.

Penny was  the best cook in town and formerly worked at Swanee's. She loved cooking for her family.  She loved animals and nature, especially her flowers. Her family lovingly said she could get dirt to grow!  A selfless person she was always willing to help those in need. The light of her world was her grandbabies.

In addition to her husband, Steve, she is survived by her children, Kathryn Arnold; step children, Steven Phillips, Jennifer King, Chris Phillips (Kristi), and Stephanie Rich (Allen);grandchildren, Jonathan Sawyer (Laura) and Brittany McKinney (Ryan Buller); step grandchildren, Trysten Phillips, Kaylee Phillips, Jack King, Ava King, Thomas Phillips, Caylen Phillips and Elijah Rich; great grandson, Dallas Buller;  and brother, Archer Acken Anderson, Jr. (Judith).
She was preceded in death by a sister, Georgia Sizemore; brother, Donnie Anderson and a son-in-law, Bruce Arnold.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jack Stewart officiating.  Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 from 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
