Phillip Lynn Barksdale

Phillip Lynn Barksdale of South Boston passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the age of 59. He was born in Halifax County on October 17, 1962 to Ray Barksdale and Carolyn Robertson Barksdale and was married for 32 years to his beloved wife, Lynn Vaughan Barksdale.

Phillip was an outdoorsman, loved to hunt, fish, racing and a huge Cowboys fan. He lived on the softball field watching his girls play ball.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Barksdale; father, Ray Barksdale; children, Ashley Lynn Barksdale and Brittany Nicole Barksdale (Josh Gunn); son at heart and nephew, Marty Barksdale and his children, Makayla, Brayden, and Xander; sister, Stacey Barksdale; brother, Bobby Barksdale (Cathy); sister, Rhonda Carr (Joe); half brother, Jamie Barksdale (Rachel); step sister, Donna Townley; mother-in-law, Connie Perkins; numerous other family members, including nieces, nephews and cousins; and not to be forgotten, his dog, Mitzi.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carolyn Barksdale; grandson, Jaxon Barksdale; paternal grandparents, Thomas & Elizabeth Barksdale; maternal grandparents, Floyd & Helen Robertson; sister, Kimberly Barksdale; step mom, Vicky Barksdale, and father in law, J.T. Vaughan.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August, 21, 2022 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Greg Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
