Presley "Shorty" Thompson

RICHMOND Presley "Shorty" Thompson of Richmond, VA and formerly Crewe, VA passed away on Sunday, March 13, 2022 at the age of 96.Presley was born in Iredell County, NC on August 20, 1925 to the late Jason and Nina Brotherton Thompson.He was married to Gladys Gupton Thompson, who survives. Presley graduated from Virgilina High School and then served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He then went into business and operated Thompson Roofing and Sheet Metal from 1961 - 1980 in Crewe, Va. He was a previous member of Aaron's Creek Baptist Church and Crewe Baptist Church before moving his membership to Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond. He and his wife were long-term supporters of Hope Tree Family Services and Billy Graham Evangelistic Services. He is survived by his wife, Gladys and his sister, Evelyn Tuck (Mark) of Crewe, VA. Preceding Presley in death are his sisters, Ole Mae Walden, Mary Smith, Floy Pope, Beatrice Compton, Nina B. Cole, and Christina Bowen and his brothers, Joseph Thompson, Fred Thompson Sr., and Adron Thompson. Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Aarons Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service, 1-2 PM at the church.A reception will follow in the fellowship hall after the service.
