Priscilla Jewett Gilbert

June 11, 1942 — February 10, 2020

Clarksville, VA - On Monday, February 10, 2020, Priscilla Jewett Gilbert, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 77. She was born in New York City on June 11, 1942, the daughter of the late Edward Kenneth and Winnefrey “Willie” Walker Jewett. Priscilla was a 1959 graduate of the Professional Children’s School and also completed studies at Drew University. She worked as an administrative assistant with the Defense Mapping Agency. Priscilla was a member of Jamieson Memorial United Methodist Church and shared her passion for music in the church choir, as well as the local chorale. She was a member of the Red Hats ladies group. Cherishing her memories are her daughter, Laura Heltebran and grandchildren, John and Ava, as well as her step-children Eric Purnhagen (and his children Tanner and Margaret), Monica Sippel (and her son Erik) and Henry "Dusty" Purnhagen (and his children Jason, Joshua and Jonathan). She was preceded in death by beloved husbands, Henry “Hank” Purnhagen and Perry R. Gilbert. A memorial service celebrating Priscilla’s life will be held at 3 PM on March 13, 2020, at Jamieson Memorial UMC. Reverend Sam Chung will officiate the service.
