Rachel Howerton Overby

Rachel Howerton Overby, 88, widow of Clarence Cornelius Overby, passed away Saturday, July 19, 2014 at MeadowView Terrace in Clarksville. Rachel was born January 9, 1926 to the late Lonie Lacy and Edna Elliott Howerton. A farmers wife, she was retired from Burlington Industries, where she was employed for many years. She was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverends Don Wilson and Rodney Barwick officiating. Interment will follow in the Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Overby is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph B. and Patsy Overby of Roxboro, NC and daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Rufus Parker of Nelson and Ruth and Charles Nelson of Buffalo Junction. Her grandchildren, Angela Ladd (David), Michele Johnson (Jason), R.J. Parker (Gabriella), Bobby Joe Overby, Mark Parker, and Melissa Nelson; great-grandchildren, Parker Ladd, Kali Parker, Chyna Ladd, Jackson Parker, Ethan Parker, Dixie Overby, Sierra Johnson, and Katelyn Johnson; and brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Louise Howerton also survive. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Esther Overby and a brother, Willie Howerton. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7-8:30pm at Watkins Cooper Lyon
