CLUSTER SPRINGS, VA Mr. Ralph Lowery Cole passed away Friday, January 19, 2018 at the age of 93. Born in Halifax County on February 7, 1924, he was the son of the late Charlie Washington Cole and the late Nannie Lowery Cole and was married to the late Eva Olds Cole. Ralph was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church where he always tended to the maintenance of the church. He loved all of his church family and was always willing to lend a helping hand, whatever the need.He worked as a refrigeration technician with Blue Ribbon Dairy, Sealtest, Flav-O-Rich and in later years, for himself.Ralph was a charter member of both,the Cluster Springs Fire Department and the Cluster Springs Ruritan Club. His favorite hobby was baseball.He served his country as a veteran of World War II. Survivors include a daughter, Ida Mae King and husband, Henry of Cluster Springs; grandson, Chris Cole and wife, Lori of South Boston; granddaughter, Anita Collins and husband, Steve of Clover; great grandchildren, Katie and Anna Carole Cole, Ashley and Tyler Collins; sister, Frances Chaney and numerous nieces and nephews. Other than his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harper, Richard, Stover and Floyd Cole and sisters, Alice Flannigan and Dal Ford. Funeral services for Ralph Lowery Cole will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Black Walnut Baptist Church with Reverend Jack Stewart and Reverend Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 8.The family will receive friends on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 7:00 – 8:30 PM and other times at the home of Ida Mae and Henry King, 2081 Cluster Springs Road, South Boston, VA.
