Ralph Monroe Pittard, Jr.

Ralph Monroe Pittard, Jr. 63, of Buffalo Junction, VA, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at Duke University Medical Center. He was born September 21, 1945 and was the son of the late Ralph Monroe and Esther Stovall Royster Pittard. Monroe attended Bluestone High School and Carolina Military Academy and was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Joan Bowden Pittard; sister Dyan Royster Pittard Willis and husband William Henry Willis, III of Clarksville; niece, Kit Royster Willis Rutherford and husband, Jay Felton Rutherford, Jr. of Lexington, KY; nephew, Tyler Monroe Willis and wife Jennifer Coleman Willis of Roanoke, VA; and great nephews and nieces, Jay Felton Rutherford, III, William Willis Rutherford, Monroe Sanders Rutherford, Davis Royster Rutherford, Mary Virginia Willis, and Elizabeth Jane Monroe Willis. Also surviving are Monroe's mother-in-law, Barbara Bowden Fox and husband Fred Fox of Roxboro, NC; brother-in-law Johnny Bowden and Laura Maginnis of Clarksville; sister-in-law Phyllis Bowden Slonaker and husband David Slonaker of Richmond, VA and their children. Graveside services will be 2 O'clock PM Saturday, September 19th at Buffalo Baptist Church Cemetery with William Loveless officiating. The family will receive friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Willis, III on Friday, September 18th from 3 to 7 PM.
