Ralph Hardy Snead

Mr. Ralph Hardy Snead of 6127 Dryburg Road, Scottsburg, VA died Monday, July 11, 2011 at the age of 79. He was born in Halifax County on June 10, 1932 to the late George Dewey Snead and the late Gladys Vaughan Snead and was married to Violet Morris Snead. He was a member of Fork Baptist Church, the Dryburg Hunting Club, and a retired tobacco farmer. Survivors include his wife, Violet Morris Snead of Scottsburg, VA; three sons, Michael Hardy Snead and Tony Wayne Snead and his wife, Frances all of Scottsburg and Danny Ralph Snead of South Boston; one step-son, Robbie Davis and his wife, Robin of South Boston; two sisters, Lucille S. Anderson of South Boston and Lillian S. Rickman of Scottsburg; one brother, Edward Dewey Snead and his wife, Annabelle of Scottsburg; 10 Grandchildren; and 16 Great Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Nora S. Rutledge and Williebelle S. Carver. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2011 at 2:00 PM at Fork Baptist Church with Rev. David Rathel officiating. Burial will follow in the Snead Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday night from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home.
