Randolph Allen Martin, 74, of Clover, Virginia passed away on February 8, 2024 in South Boston, Virginia. He was the loving husband of Mavis Martin for over 51 years, who predeceased him. Born on February 17, 1949, in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Andrew Jackson “Jack” Martin and Virginia Gertrude Glass Martin of Clover.
Randolph was a farmer and retired from Clover Yarns. He was known for growing the best watermelons around.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Wyatt Martin, Andrew “Butch” Martin, and Clyde “Moody” Martin, and his in-laws, Monroe and Louise Martin.
Randolph is survived by his two daughters, Rhonda Martin and friend Dwight and Patricia “Sissie” Smart and husband Robbie; son, Randy Martin all of Scottsburg; granddaughters Stephanie Elliott and husband Mitch of Clover; Christie Harrell and husband Adam of Midlothian; great-grandchildren A.J., Daniel, Jace, Clara, Jackson, Carlisle, Riley, and Jonathan; a brother, Tommy Martin and wife, Ginny of Clover; sisters Agnes Fitch of Halifax, Easter Fitch of Powhatan, Betty Ann Mills of Lillington, NC, Mary Lee Conner of Midlothian, and Janice Fisher and husband David of Alton. He is also survived by brothers-in-law Jr. Martin, D.D. Martin, and Wayne, Martin; sisters-in-law Dorothy Moorefield, Lois Ogle and husband Rickie, Joyce Newcomb, Vicky Lacks and husband Jeff, and Sheila Lloyd and husband Harrison; and numerous other family members and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Clover Cemetery with Pastor David Smith officiating.
Visitation with family and friends will be at the home of his daughter, 1200 Green Level Rd., Scottsburg, Virginia 24589.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clover Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 199, Clover, VA 24534.
