Raven "Bird" Tollerson of Boydton passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023 at the age of 62. He was born in Halifax County on December 14, 1960 to the late Claude Talmadge Tollerson and the late Ruby Fitz Tollerson. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Penny Williams Tollerson.
Raven worked on cars all of his life being guided by his father. His dream of owning his own shop was fulfilled in April of 2006. Raven had life dreams and goals to see the Green Bay Packers play with Brett Favre, drive a race car, own his very own shop, ride bikes, and travel. He was able to accomplish all of this during the course of his life. He enjoyed all kinds of music, especially rock n' roll. He also enjoyed racing go-karts for 15 years. He loved to hunt and fish, taking his first bass boat ride to fish in January. When his girls were young they camped in a tent and stayed on the lake, tubing, skiing & knee-boarding, each trying to outdo the other. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and best friend to all, always passing out hugs and calling all the women "Sug" or "Honey". His friends in turn called him "Bird".
In addition to his wife, Penny, he is survived by daughters, Dawn Currin and Laura Tollerson; grandchildren, Alison Currin, Kory Currin, Ty Wilkinson, Layne Wilkinson and Savannah Wilkinson; siblings, Leon Tollerson (Shelby) and Connie McGee (Danny); nieces & nephew, Jennifer Britt (Buck), Jessica Bowers and Ryan McGee; numerous cousins & family and not to be forgotten many friends that were like family to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Alie Currin and #63.
