Ray Edward Fowler

Mr. Ray Edward Fowler of 1161 Fowler Trail, South Boston, VA died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at the age of 79. He was born in Cherokee Co., SC on July 2, 1933 to the late Edward Fowler and the late Ethel Blackwell Fowler and was married for 61 years to Bobbie Rogers Fowler. Mr. Fowler was a Special Agent for the Virginia State Police retiring after 33 years of service and was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a member of Faith Community Church, a member of Faulkner Memorial Masonic Lodge #91, the American Association of State Troopers, and the Virginia Association of State Troopers. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Rogers Fowler of South Boston, VA; a son, Larry Hasian of Fort Mill, SC; two daughters, Vicki F. Carr and her husband, W. Doug Carr who was a son in the truest sense as an wavering source of love and support, and Kimberly Fowler, both of South Boston, VA; a sister, Dorothy Jean "Dot" Robbins of Lexington, NC; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a special caregiver and friend, Caroline Jones; and his beloved dog, J.R.. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, James, Bobby, and Jimmy Fowler. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Stewart and Rev. Dane Skelton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Friday, December 28, 2012 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of Kim Fowler, 4415 Brentwood Dr., South Boston, VA.
