Raymond “Butch” Stanley Rickman of South Boston, VA, died peacefully at home on March 22, 2023. Born on August 9, 1947, in South Boston, VA, he was the son of the late Raymond Alexander Rickman and Nellie Jones Rickman and was married to Bonnie Warner Beaty Rickman, who survives.
Butch was a life long auto mechanic and over his career worked at Fitts Motor company, Centerville Dodge and Puckett Auto Sales. He was a former EMT with the Chase City Rescue Squad. Butch was formally a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Red Oak and currently Cherry Hill UMC in South Boston.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie, of the home; children, Stanley Scott Rickman and wife, Terri of Saxe, Trudie N. Shumaker and husband, Jason of Dillwyn and Curtis Lloyd Rickman of Chase City; Bonnie's son and daughter in law, Bradley and Karen Beaty of Columbus, OH; and grandchildren, Jessica D. Rickman and Blake Carson Shumaker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Wendy Dawn Rickman and a sister, Joyce R. Napier.
The family will receive friends Sunday, March 26th, from 2:00 until 4:00PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 2nd at 2:00PM at Antioch Baptist Church, 6700 Barnesville Hwy, Red Oak, VA.
