Raymond Pruitt

ALTON - Mr. Raymond Pruitt of Alton, VA died Thursday, October 29, 2015 at the age of 83. He was born in Caswell Co., NC on May 15, 1932 to the late Hezekiah Pruitt and the late Lunnie Mae Rice Pruitt and was married to Christine Jordan Pruitt. Raymond was a member of Revelation Baptist Church. A good Christian man who was active in the church, he loved the church and his church family. He enjoyed training and riding horses and teaching children to ride. Raymond also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Pruitt is survived by his wife, Christine Jordan Pruitt; two sons, Raymond Edward Pruitt and wife, Paige of Elon, NC and Steve Pruitt and wife, Christina of Suffolk, VA; a daughter, Shirley Jean P. Hudson and husband, Gary of Roanoke Rapids, NC; two sisters, Rebecca Goldera and Lou Etta Wall and Husband, Robert; a brother, Howard Pruitt and wife, Eunice; grandchildren, Ray Pruitt and wife, Ruth, Raymond Eugene Hudson and wife, April, Gregory Lane Hudson and wife, Mary Ellen, Matthew Pruitt, Christopher Pruitt, Brandon Pruitt, Wesley Pruitt, Hannah Vignali, and Ashley Irby and husband, Joe ; and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Gary Lynn Hudson, Jr., four brothers, and three sisters. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 2, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Buffalo Baptist Tabernacle Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Sunday from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM and at other times at the home, 5056 Cluster Springs Rd., Alton, VA.
