Richard Randolph Elliott

Mr. Richard “Randolph” Elliott of Alton, VA passed away at his home on Sunday April 24, 2016 at the age of 76 after several years of declining health. Mr. Elliott was born April 23, 1940 in Halifax County to the late Mr. Robert Richard (Upton) Elliott and Mary Ruby Gordon Elliott. Mr. Elliott was a retired school bus driver with the Halifax County Public School System for 30 years. Mr. Elliott is survived by his wife of 45 years, Shelby Crews Elliott of the home; by one daughter, Ms. Lora Jane Bowes of Alton, VA; two sons, Mr. Randy Elliott and Jason Grove of Richmond, VA and Mr. Richard Elliott and wife, Deidre of Danville, VA. He is also survived by three granddaughters, Miss Erica Lynn Stone, Miss Katie Jo Bowes, and Miss Stephany Jean Bowes all of Alton, VA; two great grandsons, Jeremy Scott Stauble and Aiden Jarrett Davis, both of Alton, VA; one sister, Rebecca Trickey and husband, Joe of South Boston, VA; and two sisters-in-law, Ms. Rachel Elliott of Alton, VA and Ms. Becky Elliott of Goochland, VA; and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Elliott was preceded in death by one daughter, Rhonda B. Stone, one brother, Stover L. Elliott, one half-brother, Robert Elliott, and one half-sister, Emma P. Gordon. Funeral services for Mr. Richard “Randolph” Elliott will be conducted Wednesday April 27, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Norman Talley conducting the service. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove United Methodist Church cemetery in Alton, VA. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Tuesday April 26, 2016 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and other times at the home at 2218 Paradise Road Alton, VA.
