Mr. Richard Daniel "Rick" Loftis, Jr. of 191 Holly Hill Dr., Buffalo Junction, VA died Monday, July 18, 2011 at the age of 66. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on June 21, 1945 to the late Richard Daniel Loftis, Sr. and the late Sallie Oakes Loftis and was married to Judy Crozier Loftis. Mr. Loftis was a long time member of Black Walnut Baptist Church before recently becoming a member of the South Boston Church of God. He worked for the Virginia Dept. of Forestry before joining the South Boston Police Dept. in 1976 as a dispatcher. He became a police officer in 1983 and was a member of the Drug Task Force. He retired in 2002. Survivors include his wife, Judy Crozier Loftis of Buffalo Junction, VA; two daughters, Adrienne Blanks of Clarksville, VA and Angela Allred and her husband, Mike of South Boston, VA; step-daughter, Jennifer Wien and her husband, Steve of New Jersey; step-son, John Crozier and his wife, Valerie of Colorado; son-in-law, Bill Blanks; sisters, Janet Woody and Pat Loftis both of Cluster Springs, VA; grandchildren, Trevor Seate, Noah Seate, Collin Loftis, Chloe Loftis, Ashlan Garber and her husband, Dax, Tannar Blanks, and Kristin Rutherford and her husband, Warren; step-grandchildren, Emma Wien, Grace Wien, Jackson Crozier, and Ava Crozier, and his dog, Gizmo. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the South Boston Church of God with Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. The family will receive friends at the South Boston Church of God Wednesday evening from 7:00 PM until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of Angela and Mike Allred, 1045 Leigh McKay Tr., South Boston, VA.
