Richard Lea Whitt

SOUTH HILL, VA Mr. Richard Lea Whitt of South Hill, formerly of Halifax County, passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at the age of 82.He was born on December 28, 1937 to the late Trupie Alfred Whitt and the late Annie Long Whitt. Richard loved to work on the farm and drive the tractor.He took care of his brother, Marvin. He is survived by his brother, Nelson Learoy Whitt and wife, Kay of Danville; nieces, Barbara White of Burlington, NC, Betty Smith and husband, Ronnie of Burlington, NC, Marlynn Boatwright of Raleigh, NC and Wendy Guill of Ringgold; nephews, Douglas Whitt of Alton, Jerry Whitt and wife, Sharron of Pennsylvania and Terry Whitt and wife, Rhonda of Danville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Marvin Whitt, Hugh W. Whitt and Howard A. Whitt; and sisters, Ethel Horne and Virginia Griffin. A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery.
