Rita Faye Hudson

Rita Faye Hudson of Halifax, VA, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023, at the age of 60. Born on January 27, 1963, in Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Kent William Hudson and the late Jean Newcomb Mitchell. Rita was a sales clerk at  Gregory & Martin Grocery, and after that was a caregiver for several different people in the community .  She was a lifetime member of Clover Fire Department and a member of Clover Baptist Church. Rita loved many things in life but especially her family and music.

Rita is survived by her children, Holly Rutledge (Adam), Christopher Rutledge (Megan) and Morgan Seamster; grandchildren, Zayne Rutledge, Waverli “Roo” Martin, Julian Rutledge and Treasury Rutledge, and by siblings, Mark Hudson (Penny), John Hudson (Rebecca), Sandra Newcomb (Bobby) and Ann Hudson (Clifton Lindsey) & a step-brother Bryan Mitchell (Dana). Rita is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews and a dear friend Becky Stephens Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, James Mitchell; children, Debbie Lynn Wallace and Debby Jean Wallace; sister, Debbie Powell and grandparents, Kate “Bam” Nichols, Ellen Hightower and Felton Hightower.

Funeral services will be held at the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, October 30, 2023 at 7:00 PM with the Reverend Bill Wilkins officiating. Burial will be private. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service and other times at her home, 5084 Mountain Road, Halifax, VA.
