Robert Aldridge Barker

SCOTTSBURG, VA Mr. Robert Aldridge Barker, Sr. of Dryburg Road, Scottsburg, VA. passed away Thursday, May 30, 2019 at the age of 93. Born in Halifax County on December 23, 1925, he was the son of the late Elmer and Annie Tuck Barker and was married to the late Mary Whitt Barker. He was a retired farmer and a member of Fork Baptist Church. He was a combat veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Barker is survived by sons, Robert A. Barker, Jr and wife, Vickie; Darryl Barker and wife, Donna; and a daughter, Brenda D. Barker; grandchildren, Robert A. Barker, III, Ashley B. Fisher, Whitney A. Barker, Christie B. Lewis, Craig B. Barker, andCourtney B. Glass; 10 great grandchildren and many other family members. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy B. Wilmouth, Gracie B. Guill, James Barker and Elmer Barker. Funeral Services for Robert Aldridge Barker, Sr. will be Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Fork Baptist Church in Scottsburg with Pastor Ken Warfield officiating.Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Scottsburg, VA. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 1 at Fork Baptist Church one hour prior to the service, 1:00-2:00 PM and at other times his home, 7015 Dryburg Road, Scottsburg, VA.
