Robert Paul Bates

South Boston - Mr. Robert P. Bates of South Hill, VA, formerly from Washington DC and Silver Spring, MD, passed away on Sunday March 29, 2020, at the age of 76. He was born On September 1, 1943 to Alvaro Robert Bates and Ruth Cornelia King Bates. He worked as coin collector, lineman, and Unix programmer for C & P Telephone which became Bell Atlantic and then Verizon. He served in the Navy and was honorably discharged. Survivors include a son, Robert A. Bates of Frederick, MD; a daughter, Marshie R. Bates of Rockville, MD; a sister, Margaret Amundson of Walkersville, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
