Robert Cornelius Cole

South Boston, VA -- Robert Cornelius Cole, husband of Frances Elizabeth Richardson Cole, passed to his heavenly home on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the age of 99. Born in Halifax County on May 1, 1923, he was the son of the late Stonewall Jackson Cole and the late Betty Pry Griffin Cole. He enjoyed gardening and took great pride in his garden, especially his tomatoes. Robert was a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church.

Cherishing their many fond memories are his wife of 79 years, Frances Cole; daughter, Nancy Lee Cole (Hooks); sons, Robert Elmer Cole (Lanier) and Cecil Edward Cole; grandchild, Troy Cole (Sherri); great grandchild, Emily Grace Cole and siblings, “Junior” Cole (Linda), Nannie Sue Chappell and Laura Mae Ferrell. He was preceded in death by siblings, James Cole, Lorene Wade, Hazel Watts and Barbara Ann Cole; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Cole and sister-in-law, Erselle Cole. The family would like to express gratitude to their special friend, Inez, for her loving care of Mr. Cole over the past 5 years.

Private graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, December 30 at Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Norman Talley officiating.
