Robert Leslie "Hairbare" Crawford

SOUTH BOSTON, VA. Robert Leslie“Hairbare” Crawford,age 74, died at Duke University Hospital on Saturday, January 16, 2016 in the presence of his family after losing his battle with cancer.He was born in San Francisco, California and was the son of the late Robert Hoover Crawford and the late Mildred Kathleen Kennedy Crawford. Robert was an avid fisherman who would stop at any body of water he passed to drop a line and loved the state of Arkansas for the beautiful mountains and waterways. He loved to travel with his family on road trips to view the beauty of the United States, camping and long rides down the west coast. He is survived by his wife, Mary Crawford; son, Robert Crawford and wife Brooke-Anne; daughter, Tina Pierce and husband John; step daughters, Susie Johnson, Patricia Martinez, Paula Howerton and husband, Stover, and Amy Lewis; grandchildren, Richard, Christopher, Alicia, Amanda, Jackson, Taryn, Albert, Brittney and husband Joey, Tristan, Téa, Amber, April and Ashley; brother, William (Bill) Crawford; sisters, Alice Sander, Elisabeth Crawford, and Agnes Smith; and many nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents Robert was predeceased by Henry (Ted) Crawford, KathleenBonollo, James (Jim) Crawford, and his grandson Robert (little Bobby) CrawfordIII. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the memorial service. The family requests memorials be made to Lake Country Baptist Church.
