Robert Fancher Degrandcourt

Robert Fancher deGrandcourt, Sr., 86, of Clarksville, VA, passed away peacefully at his home with family and the care from hospice.  He was born May 29, 1938 to Walter Oliver Peck and Baaven Sophie deGrandcourt.

He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Great-Great-Grandfather, Uncle, and cherished Friend.

Robert’s early years were dedicated to family.  In his professional journey, he graduated from University of Florida with a B.S. in Engineering.  He is a retiree from Boeing, and the D.O.J., where he was part of inventing the first GPS system on a submarine.  Boeing was most of his career, where he made many friendships and great memories.  In his later years, Robert started his own business, Lake Country Mobility in 2005 and provided mobility services such as chair lifts, walkers and mobile chairs for his community.

Beyond work, Robert found happiness in attending family functions, hiking with pals, golfing, traveling, sitting on the porch listening to music, and watching western TV shows.  A fervent sports enthusiast, he cheered for his favorite college football team, the Florida Gators.  His love for his grandkids was his pride and joy!  He loved spending his time taking them to Kinderton Country Club to go swimming in the pool in the summer, and having a ball at the Virginia Lake Fest for so many years.
Robert is the late husband of Judith H. deGrandcourt, whom he loved very much and took care of for years until her passing.  They were married for 62 years.

Robert is survived by his loving Grandkids, Bridget Jane deGrandcourt of La Plata, MD, Katelynn Judith deGrandcourt (Greg) of Clarksville, VA, Tyler Joseph deGrandcourt of Oak Harbor, WA, and Eric Carl deGrandcourt (Hannah) of Mechanicsville, MD; step-granddaughter, Crystal Rigdon-Velasco (Miguel) of Waynesboro, VA; daughter-in-law, Katrina Lynn Rigdon of Palm Bay, FL; great-grandkids, Jane Judith Zalovick of Laplata, MD, Franklin Joseph Clinton of Laplata, MD;  step-grandkids Bianna Carmen, Sophie Grace, and Giulianna Emily Velasco; great-great-granddaughter Chloe, Mae Zalovick. Robert also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and extended family members

He was preceded in death by is wife, Judith, two sons, Eric Peck deGrandcourt and Robert Fancher deGrandcourt, Jr.; great-granddaughter, Gia Clinton; and step-grandson, Jimmy Curtis Rigdon, Jr.
