Robert Edward Hatcher, Sr., age 84, of 1037 Macdonald Road, Scottsburg, VA died Sunday, November 1, 2009 at his home. Born November 23, 1924, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Hatcher and Maggie Rickmond Hatcher. Mr. Hatcher was a member of Fork Baptist Church, retired owner/operator of Hatcher’s Auto Service, former member of the Easy Street Band, and was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran. Surviving are his wife, Edna Snead Hatcher of Scottsburg; 2 sons, Robert Hatcher, Jr. and wife Lisa of South Boston and Eddie Hatcher and wife Shelby of Scottsburg; by 2 daughters, Janice McKinney of South Boston, and Peggy Bomar and husband Buddy of Scottsburg; a brother, Floyd Hatcher of Scottsburg; by 13 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and special family friend, Brenda Conner. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Kevin Hatcher, and 3 sisters, Alice Mills, Mary Shook, and Ula Hatcher. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 PM at Fork Baptist Church with Rev. David Rathel and Rev. Aubrey Heath conducting the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Monday night from 7 until 8:30 and at other times at the home.
