Robert Bruce "Bob" Howitt

A Celebration of Life for Robert (Bob) Howitt will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Shady Grove United Methodist Church. SOUTH BOSTON Mr. Robert Bruce “Bob” Howitt of South Boston passed away Friday, March 27, 2020 at the age of 75.Bob was born in Amsterdam, NY on May 4, 1944 to Samuel and Marguerite Howitt. He was married to Rebecca Murray Howitt. Bob was a graduate of Northville High School, Adirondack Community College in New York, a Bachelor’s Degree in History from East Carolina University and Master’s Degree in Physical Education from Lynchburg College.He was passionate about basketball and played throughout his whole life. He was a Physical Education teacher for 38 years. His pastime was a love of antique automobiles. In addition to his wife, Rebecca, he is survived by a son, Robert Christopher “Rob” Howitt and wife, Cheryl of Roanoke; brother, David Howitt and wife, Flora of Northville, NY; sister, Margaret Howitt Taylor of Broad Albin, NY; and grandchildren, Kennedy Brooke Howitt and Tyler Daniel Howitt.
