Robert Richard Jones

Alton, VA.- Robert Richard Jones, Sr., husband of Joyce Hamlett Jones, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the age of 79. He was born on October 15, 1939 in Halifax County, VA to the late J. Howard and Sylvia Snead Jones. Robert was a farmer and a member of First Crossroads Baptist Church in Alton, VA. Cherishing his memories are the love of his life, Joyce; daughters, Sharon Rickman and Lisa Lloyd, both of Alton, and Leslie Shepard of South Boston; sons, Robert “Bobby” Jones, Jr. of Vernon Hill and David Jones of Alton, sons and devoted caretakers, Allan Bruce Jones and Billy Jones; brothers, Jerry Jones of Virgilina and Giles Jones of Vernon Hill and a sister, Linda Whitlow of Pelham, NC. He was also survived by 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Jim Jones. A memorial service for Mr. Jones will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 15 in the Betty B. Jones Chapel of Brooks Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Herbert Brown officiating. The family will receive family and friends immediately following the service at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and at other times at his home.
