Robert E. Long

Robert E. "Bro" Long of Alton passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 after an extended illness.He was born on June 21, 1940 in Person County, NC to the late Walter and Sallie Long. Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend but most importantly, he loved his Lord, Jesus Christ. Robert worked at JP Stevens and DOT in his earlier years. He enjoyed bowling representing JPS. He loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing but his greatest pleasure in life was spending time with his grandchildren and family. Robert is survived by his wife, Paula Blackard Long; son, Dwayne Long; sisters, Lois Adcock, Rosalee Baird and Louise Wilson; grandchildren, Jesse Davis, Harley Long, Lainne Taylor, MacKenzie Puryear, Laci Long, Jaxon Long, Kendall Long and Kayla Long; great grandchildren, Gage Davis and Kaleb Jackson; and a special nephew, David Long. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Thomas Long and John L. "Peter" Long; and sisters, Edith Bohannon and Lorene Shotwell. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Bethel Hill Baptist Church, Old US 501 Hwy, Roxboro, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 12:15 pm - 2:00 pm.
