Robert Amos Williamson of the Calvary community passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at the age of 96. He was born in Halifax County on June 27, 1928 to the late Jethro Amos Williamson and the late Laura Dalton Williamson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Gusler Williamson.
Robert was a tobacco farmer, loved cutting wood, farming and riding 4 wheelers. He enjoyed front porch sitting and the lake life. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and also a retired member of Semora Volunteer Fire Department. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Judy Williamson Vaughan; granddaughters, Shannon Stephens & Amy DeJesus; and sisters, Doris Ann Zimmerman & Joyce Lewis.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Carol Williamson; son-in-law, David Vaughan; brothers, Harold Williamson & Johnny Williamson; sister, Edith Meeler; sister-in-law, Irene Williamson and brothers-in-law, Fletcher Meeler and Thomas Zimmerman.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 24th from 2:30 PM until 7:00 PM, Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th from 10 A.M. until 7 P.M. at Breezy Oaks Bed & Breakfast, 2115 Calvary Road, Alton, VA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Brooks Lyon Funeral Home, 115 Main Street, South Boston, VA 24592 to help with funeral expenses.
