Roberta Jeanne Hackett Gilson

Roberta Jeanne Hackett Gilson, wife of George Gilson, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 at Halifax Regional Hospital. Roberta was born October 26, 1943 in Atlantic City, NJ to the late Henry and Nettie Fixmer Hackett. She was a homemaker. Funeral services will be 11 AM Wednesday in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with the Reverend Jane Lyon officiating. Interment will follow in the Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Gilson is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Doran Overbey of Virgilina, sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Jackie Gilson of Raleigh and Jeffery Gilson of Burbank, CA. Her grandchildren, Meghan and Jacob Overbey, Melissa, Matthew, and Jason Gilson and great grandson, Mason Gilson also survive. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Marcella Overbey. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
