Roderick "Pete" Chappell

Halifax, VA Mr. Roderick Price “Pete” Chappell of Craddock Street, Halifax, VA passed away Friday, April 27, 2018 at Sentara Woodview Nursing Home at the age of 82.Born in Halifax County on June 10, 1935, he was the son of the late Robert Chappell, Sr. and the late Nannie Bell Rutledge and was married to Nannie Sue Cole Chappell for 46 years. Pete was a member and choir member of Revelation Baptist Church. He was employed at JP Stevens for 35 years as a supervisor and later a dump truck driver with AE Morris Trucking. He was an avid golfer and loved being outside and working in his yard. In addition to his wife, Nannie Sue, he is survived by daughters, Patricia Herring and husband, Patrick of Goldsboro, NC, and Annette Wells and husband, Patrick of Goldsboro, NC; son, Fred Cox and wife, Nina of Richmond, VA; sister, Ann Horton of Vernon Hill; sister in law, Nancy Chappell of Vernon Hill; 3 Grandchildren, Jamie Cox, Megan Blake, Nikki Wells; 4 Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Jackie Chappell and Robert Chappell, Jr.; and a brother in law, Larry Horton. Graveside services for Mr. Chappell will be Sunday, April 29, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery with Reverend Kenny Dunn officiating.The family will be receiving friends at the home, 129 Craddock Street, Halifax, Va.
