Boydton, VA - Roger Champion “R.C.” Johnson, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at the age of 67.He was born in Halifax County on October 26, 1949 to the late Aloys Newton Johnson and the late Roger C. Johnson, Sr.R.C. was a graduate of Halifax County High School.He was employed for many years as an electrician at Russell Stover Candies and continued as a self-employed electrician after the plant closed. Mr. Johnson is survived by his sons, Kenny Johnson and Kevin Johnson, both of Dinwiddie; sister, Brenda Johnson Parrish of Danville; and brother, Michael Johnson of Person County, NC.He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Mike Hackney and long-time companion and friend, Marsha Anderson.In addition to his parents, R.C. was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Hackney, step-mother, Mary Sue Hackney and his uncle, W. E. “Mama” Johnson.Funeral services for Roger Champion Johnson, Jr. will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016 in the chapel of Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home, 703 Virginia Avenue, Clarksville, VA23927, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Johnson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.Burial will follow at Oakhurst Cemetery.
