Red Oak, VA. -Rogers Pearson DeJarnette, Sr., 83, died at Sentara Halifax Regional Health system on Saturday, July 4, 2015.Rogers was a graduate of the Randolph Henry class of 1950.For many years he served the town of Clarksville, first as the chief of police and then as the office supervisor for the Virginia Department of Transportation.He was instrumental in the formation of the Charlotte County Rescue Squad, Wylliesburg office.Mr. DeJarnette was formerly a trustee and elder at First Christian Church in Chase City and a member of Public Fork Christian Church.Surviving Rogers are his wife of fifty-three years, Jean Clark DeJarnette, his son R. Pearson DeJarnette, Jr. and wife Karren, three grandchildren, Adam Eggleston, Kristen DeJarnette, and Nicholas DeJarnette and one great grandson, Mason Eggleston.Also surviving are his brothers, Leo Hagood DeJarnette and Charles Ray Jimmie DeJarnette.Preceding him in death are his mother and father, Richard Pearson and Ruth Adams DeJarnette.The family of Mr. Roger Pearson DeJarnette, Sr. will receive friends at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home on Monday, July 6th from 6 PM until 8 PM.The graveside funeral service will be held at Public Fork Christian Church on Tuesday, July 7th at 2 PM.The DeJarnette family is being cared for by Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.Contributions can be made in Rogers’ name to the Charlotte County Rescue Squad.
