Ronald Wayne Collins

April 26, 1940 — October 31, 2022

Ronald Wayne Collins, 82, passed away at home on October 31st, 2022.

Born and raised in Danville, Virginia, son of Charles Cleveland and Annie Easter Warren Collins, he worked on his family's tobacco farm and was his high school Senior Class President. Ronald left Danville to join HK Porter as an engineer in Philadelphia in 1962.  While working full time Ron attended both Drexel University and Temple at night. Soon after, he built and opened a successful car wash business – Jamah, and then another location, Jamorow. With the changing economy, he opened another successful business, Ron's Tire Service. After trying to retire, he was offered a position as President of the CC Association, where he restored a closed glass company. This evolved into another successful enterprise - R&R Woodcrafters, a crate building company for AFG Glass.

Retirement for Ron and Jane meant one thing, returning to "his ole fishin' hole, Kerr Lake" in Clarksville, Virginia, in 2002. They enjoyed many years there together until Jane's passing in 2014.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Jane Duke Dayhuff.

He leaves behind his son Wayne Collins (Dawn), daughter Monette Runquist (Ed), and five grandsons. Grandsons Ron (Jessica), Jeffrey (Ali), CJ (Caitlyn), Eddie, Ronnie. He also leaves behind seven loving great-grandchildren, Emelia James, Adele Rose, Georgia Grace, Luke Newton, Anna Winsky, Chase Jacob, and Chloe James.

Ron was preceded in death by two brothers, James Samuel Collins and Charles Neal Collins, and two sisters, Annie Laura Turner and Mildred Burton. He is survived by his twin brother, Donald Collins and wife Louise. He leaves behind two sister in laws, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Anyone who knew Ron knew he was a generous soul who had a passion for cars. He passed on his love for cars as well as his entrepreneurial spirit to several family members, who have also run successful businesses. Family was important to Ron, and he would give you the shirt off his back as quickly as he could. A man of few words, he said what he meant and meant what he said. He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Whether the memories of Ron we have are involved underneath a vehicle fixing something, being in his boat floating on the lake, or being next to him as he drove his Model A or old Chevy pickup.... these memories are ones we will treasure always.
