Roosevelt Owen Stone

VIRGILINA Mr. Roosevelt Owen Stone of Hitesburg Church Road passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born in Granville County on April 27, 1941 to Andrew Haley Stone and Bessie Wilkins Stone. He was married to Judy Morris Stone for 57 years. Roosevelt retired from J.P. Stevens with 45 years of employment. In his early years he enjoyed bird hunting and he loved farming. His passion was tobacco and then cattle. He was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church. He loved his Lord and was a disciple of God. He loved his family very much and leaving behind to cherish memories is his wife, Judy; son, Timothy Stone and Paula of Virgilina; daughter, Sandra Stone of Virgilina; grandchildren, Josh Stone (Sarah Baker Walker), Lindsey Stone, Sidney Stone and Hannah Stembridge; great grandchildren, Gunner Lawhorn and Carter Stembridge; brothers, Arthur Calvin “AC” Stone and Tommy Stone; and sister, Betty Williamson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eardean Elliott. A Funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Hitesburg Baptist Church with Reverend Ian Rigney officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:30 PM at the church. Interment will be at Hitesburg Baptist Church Cemetery.
