Rosa Yancey Lowery

Mrs. Rosa Yancey Lowery of 1242 Bold Springs Rd., South Boston died Monday, December 7, 2009 at the age of 93. She was born in Halifax County on March 25, 1916 to the late James Phillip and Sarah Morris Yancey and was married to the late Keister F. "Bug" Lowery. Mrs. Lowery was a homemaker and was a member of the South Boston Church of God where she taught Sunday School. Survivors include two daughters, Erma L. Joyner and husband, Randy and Myrtle L. Spangler, both of South Boston; a son, Lawrence P. Lowery and wife, Phyllis of South Boston; 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by 5 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 3:00 PM at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Bruce Hagy officiating. Burial will follow in Black Walnut Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday night from 7 until 8:30 PM and at other times at the home of Lawrence & Phyllis Lowery, 1248 Bold Springs Rd., South Boston.
