Roy Gerald Lowery

VIRGILINA Mr. Roy Gerald Lowery of Ramble Road, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the age of 72. He was born in Halifax County on July 10, 1948 to Roy Chester Lowery and Pauline Lewis Lowery and was married to Joyce Comer Lowery. Roy was a member of Centerville Baptist Church where he received Christ as his personal Saviour on June 1972 and served as a deacon and treasurer for more than a decade.He was a devoted father, husband and grandfather. He dedicated 34 years of service with Midway Volunteer Fire Department, 6 years as fire chief, 10 years as treasurer and 12 years as president. He was a tobacco farmer and was employed with USDA as a tobacco inspector. He also owned and operated L & L Wheels & Tires. In addition to his wife Joyce, he is survived by sons, Tim W. Lowery (Lesley), Chris Lowery (Jennifer) and Monty Lowery (Tausha); grandchildren, Drew Talley (Ashley), Alex Lowery, Clayton Massaro, Maci Lowery, Ethan Lowery and MacKenzie Lowery; great grandchildren, Jackson Talley and Mila Talley, brothers, Eddie Lowery (Brenda) and Robbie Lowery (Roxanne); sister, Connie Lambert (Ronnie) and a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Lowery. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 25, 2020 at Centerville Baptist Church with Pastor Todd McClure officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery with fireman’s rites. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 11:30 AM.
