Roy Anthony "Tony" Thomas, 70, of South Boston, VA, passed away on Wednesday, September 4th, 2024. Born on June 29th, 1954, Tony was the son of the late Cecil Berkley Thomas and Cathryn Green Thomas.
Tony was a family man, who valued spending time with loved ones at work, home, gatherings, and special occasions. Tony loved being at a ball field to watch his family play baseball and softball. He took pride in coaching all of his children. He enjoyed making trips out of town to watch his children, nephews and nieces play. His true passion in life, other than his family, was music. Tony was a talented musician, who could play multiple instruments but was well known for being a left handed bass player. He was a member of The Stallions Band and could also be found playing at our local theater, The Prizery.
Tony is survived by his loving children Nathan Thomas, Miles Thomas (Hillary), and Beth Thomas Slabach (Corbin), as well as his grandchildren Katie Ann and Grace Madelyn Thomas, and Owen Slabach. He is also survived by his sister Sharon Long (David), his special friend Pat Haley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Tony was preceded in death by his parents, his brother David Thomas, and his sister Becky Howerton.
A Visitation will take place at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Saturday, September 7th from 4-6pm. A Funeral Service will be held in memory of Tony at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Sunday, September 8th, 2024 at 2pm followed by a Graveside Service.
The family will also receive friends and family at the home of Beth and Corbin, at 1160 Asbury Church Rd, Vernon Hill.
