Ruby Lee Hughes Yancey

Ruby Hughes Yancey, 93, of Halifax, VA passed away on February 22, 2023. She was born on September 7, 1929 to the late Charlie Gaston Hughes and Elsie Watts Hughes. She was married to the late Luther Berkely Yancey. Ruby loved sewing, gardening, and going to senior citizen dances.

Mrs. Yancey is survived by her three daughters Pam (Pamela) Yancey Conner and Pat (Patricia) Yancey Owen of Scottsburg, VA, and Wanda Yancey Clark and her husband Dale of Blue Ridge, GA. Ruby declared each of her daughters to be her favorite. Ruby was best known as “Granny Ruby” to her seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Berkley Yancey, sons-in law, Delbert Brice Owen and Charles "Butch" Conner and great granddaughter Madelyn Scott Owen. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Hughes Roark, and Julia Hughes Satterfield.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 26, 2023 in the Brooks Lyon Funeral Home Chapel . The Reverend Don Bryant will officiate the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the services and other times at the home of Pat Owen, 6207 Bethel Road, Scottsburg, VA.
