Rufus Bowes

Mr. Rufus Bowes of 974 Woody's Store Rd., Roxboro, NC died Monday, August 2, 2010 at the age of 85. He was born in Halifax Co. on July 11, 1925, the son of the late Willie E. Bowes and the late Evie Sue Walker Bowes and was married to the late Edith C. Bowes. Mr. Bowes was a member of Alton Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult Men's Senior Sunday School Class and was a retired farmer. Mr. Bowes is survived by his sons, Ronnie R. Bowes & his wife, Sandra, of Roxboro, NC and Kenneth C. Bowes & his wife, Bonnie of Roxboro, NC; grandchildren, Ronald K. Bowes, Patrick S. Bowes, and Tracy B. Moseley & her husband, Charles; and great grandson, Davis P. Moseley. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Bowes was preceded in death by grandson, Stephen G Bowes; a great grandson, Tyler D. Bowes-McCoy; a brother, Willie J. Bowes; and a sister, Maggie B. Stone. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at Alton Baptist Church with Rev. Dennis Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at Brooks Funeral Home from 7:00 PM until 8:30 and at other times at the home 974 Woody's Store Rd., Roxboro.
