Ruth Hagood Conner Moorefield

Mrs. Ruth Hagood Conner Moorefield, 81, Clover, VA died Monday, February 8, 2010 at Britthaven of Keysville. She was born in Halifax County, VA on November 20, 1928, the daughter of the late Johnnie L. Conner, Sr and the late Hattie Womack Conner and was married to the late Carl “Dick” Moorefield, Jr. Mrs. Moorefield was a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of Clover United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher, choir member, past secretary of the United Methodist Women and she attended Sunday School for 46 consecutive years. She was a secretary of the Halifax County Saddle Club and a member of the Clover Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. Survivors include 3 brothers, Johnnie L. “Jimmy” Conner, Jr. and wife Mary Lee of Richmond, Robert Conner and wife, Jean of Danville and Glen Conner of Danville; a sister, Maggie Guill and husband Aubrey of South Boston; 2 brother-in-laws, Marvin “Coonie” Moorefield, Aubrey “Petro” Moorefield and wife, Becky both of Clover; several nieces and nephews; devoted friends Agnes & Buddy Fitch of Concord, Eva Guill of Scottsburg, and Carolyn M & Rhett Riddle of Richmond. She was also preceded in death by her sister Rachel Lester, cousin Mary Hudson, and nephew Robert “Elmo” Conner. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 11:00 am at Clover United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Sasser officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Wednesday night from 7 until 8:30 pm & again Thursday at the church an hour before the service and at other times at the home of Aubrey “Petro” & Becky Moorefield 306 North Main Street, Clover.
