Sam Jones Hazelwood

CLOVER Mr. Sam Jones Hazelwood passed away at Mary’s, his sister, home on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at the age of 79. He was born in Halifax County on February 26, 1940 to the late William T. Hazelwood and the late Ellis Martin Hazelwood. Sam was a member of Clover Church of God of Prophecy. Mr. Hazelwood is survived by brothers, Ronnie E. Hazelwood and significant other Roxsy Dunkley and Roger L. Hazelwood, both of Clover; sisters, Carrie A. Williams and husband Johnny Mack of Scottsburg and Mary F. Newcomb of Clover; eleven nieces; seven nephews; numerous great nephews and nieces; and several great-great nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by brothers, Nelson Hazelwood and James Hazelwood and sisters, Sandra Lloyd and Margaret Seamster. Funeral services for Sam Hazelwood will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 3:00PM in the Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with the Reverends Thomas Warren, Wayne Seamster, and Jane Lyon officiating. Burial will follow in the Clover Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home from 7:00PM to 9:00PM and at other times at the home of his sister, Mary, 2144 Mill Rd., Clover, VA 24534.
