Samuel Lee Oakley

Samuel Lee Oakley of Nelson, VA passed away on November 11, 2024 at the age of 80.  He was born on August 13, 1944 in Granville County, NC to the late Ivory Thomas Oakley and the late Ruby Fuller Oakley.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Keeton Oakley.

During his employment years, Samuel worked at Rochester Button Company, Daystrom Furniture, System Contract Heating & Air, Inscoe Plumbing and a farmer.  He was always behind the video camera recording family memories.  He was a windmill collector & builder.  He also loved bluegrass music, classic cars & trucks and tinkering on things.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Ann Oakley Keeton (Joseph), Bobby Lee Oakley and Scotty Samuel Oakley; honorary grandson, Tommy Lee Evans; honorary daughter, Tammy Evans; step granddaughter, Catherine Gilbert; brother, Lawrence Haywood Oakley (Regina); sister-in-laws, Faye Oakley and Shirley Kaywood; special friend Shirley Hutchins and numerous nieces & nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Lynn Oakley; brothers, Reed Oakley, Coy Oakley and Russell Oakley and a sister, Margaret Ercell Oakley.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at the Family Cemetery with Reverend Ian Rigney officiating.
