Samuel William Rogers

SOUTH BOSTON - Samuel William “Sammy” Rogers, Jr. of South Boston passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the age of 67. He was born in Halifax Co., VA on November 11, 1949 the son of the late Samuel William Rogers, Sr. and the late Elizabeth Satterfield Rogers. Sammy was a 1968 graduate of Halifax Co. High School and was a mail carrier. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanette Thaxton Rogers; two daughters, Tracey Carol Rogers (special friend, John Lee Whitt), and Mary “Beth” Francis; two grandchildren, April Dawn Francis and Blake Neal Francis; and numerous other family members. The family will receive friends at the residence, 2112 Vaughan St. on Tuesday, October 10 from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A private funeral service will be held.
