Samuel Wilson Satterfield

Mr. Samuel Wilson Satterfield of 1007 Piney Grove Rd., Alton died Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the age of 92. He was born in Halifax Co. on June 26, 1918 to the late Samuel Ellam Satterfield and the late Sallie Fannie Carter Satterfield and was married to Virginia Ellen Long Satterfield. Mr. Satterfield was a retired tobacco farmer. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ellen Long Satterfield of Alton; daughter, Patricia Walden and her husband, Sam of Danville; sons Eugene Satterfield and his wife Barbara of Alton, George Sammy Satterfield and wife, Sue of South Boston and Owen Satterfield and wife, Barbara of Crystal Hill; a sister, Sallie Carter of South Boston; a brother, Keith Satterfield of Alton; a son-in-law, Carlton Williams of South Boston; six grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Estelle Satterfield Williams and a sister, Myrtle L. Satterfield. Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 29, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Olive Branch United Methodist Church Cemetery, Alton, VA, with Rev. Bob Woodfin officiating. The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home Thursday night from 7 until 8:30 PM. The family requests that those wishing to give memorials please consider your favorite charity.
