Samuel Scott Williamson

Samuel Scott Williamson, Jr. “PeeWee,” husband of Marie Gordon Williamson, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at the age of 78. Born in Mecklenburg County on March 19, 1944, he was the son the late Sam Scott Williamson and Lucy Frazier Williamson.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, PeeWee is survived by his daughters, Shelia Williamson Weary and husband, Mark, and Kathy Williamson Hite and husband, Thomas, all of Nelson, VA. Also surviving are grandchildren, Gavin Weary of Anderson, SC, Hannah Stembridge (Josh), Brianna Rice, Tommy Lee Hite (Alexis), Robbie Rice (Michaela) and Skyler Weary, all of Nelson; a great grandchild, Carter Stembridge and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dogs, who were his pride and joy, Cocoa, Tanner, Lucy, Katie Sue and his horse, Starlight. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Ruby Compton, Eva Saunders, Dennis Williamson, Ray Williamson, Roy “Hump” Williamson and James "Jimmy" Williamson.

PeeWee farmed most of his life. Farming was his passion as well as his love for his horses. He was a very hard worker his entire life. He loved his family and his animals.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 15 in the chapel at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home with burial to follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery. The Reverends Billy Coghill and Ian Rigneywill officiate the service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6 – 7:30 P.M. and all other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers, PeeWee's family asks that donations be made to Sentara Halifax Hospice.
