Sandra Glasscock Callahan of Clarksville, Virginia passed away on November 22, 2024. She was born on March 27, 1956 in South Boston, Virginia to the late Wallace and Anna Comer Glasscock of Buffalo Junction. She is survived by her daughter Amy Elizabeth Callahan of Chase City; her son, Adam Benjamin Callahan (David) of Knightdale, North Carolina; one brother Timothy Wallace Glasscock of Buffalo Junction and six close cousins and many other relatives.
Ms. Callahan was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church and an active participant in AARP events. She regularly vacationed to local states with her cousins to experience history and unusual sights. She was also talented in arts and crafts from knitting to sewing, to making wreaths and Christmas ornaments… she did it all.
Ms. Callahan taught for 30 years in the Mecklenburg County Public School system. She started teaching special education at Park View Middle School and then was a Reading Specialist at LaCrosse Elementary for almost two years before moving to Chase City Elementary for the remainder of her career as a Reading Specialist in Title I. She spent her free time tutoring students in need both in Chase City and Clarksville. She believed in her students and knew that every child could learn when shown patience, understanding, and love.
A service will be held at Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 2:30PM. The family will be accepting friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
