Clarksville, VA Sandra Kay “Sandi” Silka, 73, of Clarksville, VA died on September 6, 2015.She was born March 3, 1942 in Chicago, IL to the late Joseph Frank and Emily Kulis Silka. Sandi received her education and built her life in Orange County, CA where she worked as a successful Real Estate Broker and in banking.An avid reader and book club member, Sandi found opera and anthropology the most fascinating, but she could get just as immersed when watching a movie with her “Chick Flick” group.Sandi stayed up-to-date on all current affairs, whether local or global.She was a self-proclaimed CNN news junkie and stayed involved within her community with organizations like the Clarksville Ruritans and the Clarksville Twin Rivers Garden Club.She was an animal lover and believed in and supported the mission of the Lake Country SPCA. Sandi is predeceased in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Frank “Bud” Silka, Jr.She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Donald Grover of Orange County, CA; her sister-in-law, Peggy Silka of Las Vegas, NV; her beloved nieces, Gina Tiedt (and husband John), Erika Kushner and Nicole Volpe (and husband Jon); her beloved nephew Scott Silka (and wife Kristen); her great nieces, Emily Tiedt; Elizabeth and Audrey Volpe; Sydney and Kaitlyn Silka; and her great nephews Kash Kushner; Alex Tiedt, Bryce Tiedt and Connor Tiedt.Sandi is further survived by her dear friend, Judy Millsap, and many other close friends in Clarksville as well as in Southern California. The family would like to express their profound gratitude to Sentara Hematology & Oncology, Dr. Randhawa and his entire staff, for the excellent and compassionate care given to Sandi over the last 3-1/2 years.
