Sara Vernon Solomon

Mrs. Sara Vernon Solomon of 1125 Solomon Rd., Alton died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at the age of 94. She was born in Halifax Co., VA on January 29, 1917 to the late Trogie Lea Vernon and the late Glennie Mise Vernon and was married to the late Richard Frederick Solomon. She was a retired LPN and was a member of First Cross Roads Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Sara Faye Solomon Gosney and husband, Wallace of Alton, VA; two sisters, Lillian V. Gammon of Danville, VA and Evelyn V. McDowell of South Boston, VA; a brother, John Vernon of South Boston, VA; three step grandchildren and three step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, Florence V. Collie and Margaret V. Slayton, two brothers, Robert Vernon and Alvin Vernon, one step granddaughter,and one step great grandson. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 2:00 PM at First Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Dan Ward officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home, 1125 Solomon Rd., Alton.
