Sharon Kizer Nelson

Mrs. Sharon Kizer Nelson of South Boston, VA died on Friday, October 31, 2014 at the age of 57. She was born in Danville, VA on February 25, 1957 to Thomas Carol Kizer and Myrna Inge Kizer and was married to Ira Brann Nelson. Mrs. Nelson worked as a Financial Clerk for the Town of South Boston. Previous employment included Burlington Industries and Jackson Motors. She participated in the South Boston Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of Clarksville Baptist Church. She was reared in Clarksville, VA , graduated from Bluestone High School, Class of 1975, and graduated from Chowan College, Class of 1977. Surviving are her husband, Ira B. Nelson of South Boston; her parents, Carol & Myrna Kizer of Clarksville;a sister, Patricia Coleman and husband, Gary of Clarksville; three sons, Dwayne Alan Nelson and wife, Kim of Washington, DC and Chapel Hill, NC, David Victor Nelson and wife, Nikki of Raleigh, NC, and Michael Thomas Nelson and wife, Debra of Danville, VA; three grandchildren, Kate Nelson, Tyler Nelson, and Alaina Nelson; two nephews, Brian Coleman and wife, Courtney of Cary, NC and Brett Coleman and friend, Jennifer of Holly Springs, NC; two great nephews, Jacob Coleman and Reid Coleman; brother-in-law, Jim Nelson and wife, Vivian of Roanoke; and sister-in-law, Shellie Belliars and husband, Del of South Boston. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 3:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church with the Reverend Jack Stewart, the Reverend Doctor Gregory Randall, and the Reverend Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home on Saturday, November 1, 2014 from 7:00 PM until 9:00 PM and at other times at the home, 101 Eanes St., South Boston.
